History repeats itself: Super Typhoon

SUPER TYPHOON

                It hasn’t been a year since sendong came knocking on our doorsteps on the night of December 17, 2011. And here we are again being tested by Mother Nature by a typhoon possibly stronger than sendong. We all remember that day, when our Christmas celebrations would definitely engrave a tragic memory in our minds. It was the first Christmas celebration that I spent on our church, sorting out foods, clothing, soaps, blankets etc. for the victims of sendong. The people who experienced trauma due to the flash flood that took more than 1,200 people and 1.3billion in agriculture and property, people that even now hasn't still recovered from the trauma; I couldn't imagine what they were feeling. I remembered on the morning of December 18, 2011 when my brothers and I including our dad went to some of the places that were really hit by the typhoon, we could only watch in horror as we saw bodies on the sideways covered with blankets, lifeless.  And now here it is again, a typhoon said to be stronger than the previous one, and is headed to the same direction that typhoon sendong was headed, what more can we ask from those people that has lost almost everything from the previous typhoon, what can we possibly do to console them in these events, the thread of hope is slowly getting thinner. But don’t lose hope just yet, it was also said that there have been occasions in the past when a storm suddenly changed direction. But for safety measures, several places that were once hit by sendong have wisely advised the people to evacuate early in order to avoid unfortunate disasters. We don’t want Christmas and New Year to be another tragic memory and we never want a Part II of the Sendong tragedy,  so keep your love ones close guys. Godbless us all!
